Horse Hair Nest
While visiting my friend Miss Crisp, I stumbled upon this treasure. A hummingbird nest made (almost) completely out of horse hair just laying in the middle of the driveway on the way to the barn.Being the good homeschooling parent that I am, I just had to bring it home for further inspection. It is a beauty!
We've found several nests like this around our property. In my quest to identify what bird makes it, I stumbled upon your blog. Unfortunately, it's not a hummingbird nest... Theirs are only the size of a quarter made from spider webs. I'm still trying to figure out what makes these, but my guess is some type of finch.
...to Picklesburg. Here you will get an inside look of the Pickle Family. Cool, dad. Gerkin, mom. Chip, eldest son. Dill, middling son and Sweet, little sister. We are home-scholars who live life to the beat of their own drummer. Using an unschooling, eclectic method with a bit of classical thrown in, we do not fit into the perceived homeschooling mold. We hope to touch your lives with antecdotes and an inside look as to how we function.
