Last Wednesday we watched a show on Discovery called Destroyed in Seconds. It explained how buildings were destroyed. The picklets learned that the people time the explosions so they go off every 4 1/2 seconds. Since it is timed like that the building falls into the center. Little did the picklets know that they were going to get to watch a real life across the street implosion just three days later. It was cold, it was windy, it was crowed and it was loud but we were there, having the time of our lives!
This building belongs to one of the hospitals. It used to be a dormitory for nursing students and the nuns. It was old and unsafe and the safest, not to mention cheapest, was to get rid of it was an implosion. How cool! Please watch.
The picklets had the time of their lives. We were directly across the street and a parking lot, in the front row. I was about to the turn the camera off when the first boom happened and it scared me. I am so glad I didn't turn it off though because I am positive I wouldn't have turned it back on as I was mesmorized.. What a great experience.
